The Selwood Housing Group completed work on nine new affordable homes earlier this year, three for shared ownership and six for social rent. The development now offers two three-bedroom and seven two-bedroom homes. The project, in Studley Green at Platinum Court, has redeveloped the unused site of the former John Bull Public House. The homes were designed with sustainability at the forefront, offering a high energy efficiency rating (EPC ‘A’ rated), charging points for electric cars, PV panels, and air source heat pumps.
The development has allowed existing members of the community to get involved. A few months ago, children from the nearby Primary School planted new gardens on the site, adding to existing greenspace, helping to revitalise the local area, and encouraging biodiversity. The support from Homes England, who provided £862k in funding, helped to make the project a success and Platinum Court has now begun to welcome new residents.
