The creation of two dwellings within a dilapidated agricultural shed using the prior notification procedure.

Understanding planning procedure is integral to every project. At Paddock Barns, we avoided the usual planning application process and were able to make comprehensive use the modern agrarian form and volume.

Locally sourced stones, individually hand-cut and laid in a dry-stone fashion, replaced low-level blockwork and zinc cladding replaced high-level boarding. The steel structure of the barn was retained and made external to display the original frame, making obvious the building’s character that can be seen in long distance rural views.

The project team included Barnaby Associates Engineers and Chamberlain Construction.
